Lovely, characterful and very friendly place to stay. I loved the power shower but my girlfriend always prefers a bath!

Tips:

Lyme is ful of excellent restaurants of all kinds. Penny Black (Broad St), Tierra and the "But First Coffee" place (both on the back st just by the traffic lights) have good vegan/vegetarian options on the menu.

Friendly staff great chef nice room free car park that is only 30 yards away.

Tips:

If you cant manage stair this may not be the place for you as they are steep. The car park is closer than it looks on the map only 30 yards from the Hotel Door. The Chef cooked the most amazing Sea Bass and crab layer evening meal. Breakfast was lovely.

We stayed for three nights in this friendly and comfortable small hotel. Very good breakfast in a dedicated breakfast room, unfortunately only spoiled by a coup!e unable to control their small children. Spacious car park across the road and everything in Lyme Regis only a short walk away. Genuine charming staff.

Tips:

We had room 5 towards the back of the hotel and found this very quiet.

Great staff and fairly close to town. Family room is noisy as on the main road and above the bar, plus old building do hear every footstep and door close. Breakfast was great. Didn’t try dinner. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Tips:

Monmouth beach is good for fossil hunting children. Great activities and staff at the Lyme Regis Museum. Aroma cafe is very good for gluten-free food.

Great location in this wonderful town. Lovely garden to sit in and have a drink from the on site bar. Extra friendly management who were very helpful in providing information about local area. Standard of breakfast was really high for such a small place - really delicious and such a choice!

Tips:

Jurassic coast bus stop is right outside which drops you off in many small places on the way to Weymouth - very good if you want to walk back to Lyme Regis on the South West Coastal Path. Golden Cap is a real beauty spot to walk up from Seatown (take bus to Chideock).

Tips:

Hotel restaurant itself well worth a visit. Italia restaurant very good. Plenty of other options for eating. The old mill complex well worth a visit, as are the splendid gardens just above the promenade. Walk along the river very pleasant, and also worth walking out to the end of the cobb. The hotel is very "nice". Rooms not standard and all interesting. Staff excellent and all efficient and friendly. Our view was very nice. My only comment would concern the restaurant menu. Breakfast was very good, but while dinner food was no doubt good, it needed a wider choice to allow for plainer options to be available. To put it plainly it was just too "fancy" for every day.

Well located for town centre and beach. Building has lots of character. Clean and well maintained. Staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfasts generous and generally superb - scrambled egg was spot on!

Tips:

It is quite a steep walk down to town. You cannot stop car just outside the hotel, so please note that the (free) carpark is across the road, on corner with Pound Road (opposite Dorset House hotel). Fossil tours need to booked well in advance (at least 1 month), we were disappointed to discover.....

Hotel was lovely on the whole but my room (11) was cold. Windows let in a bitter East wind - not surprising in such a lovely old building, but they need something heavier than the pretty blinds to keep the draft out. Shower excellent.Disappointed with meal in the restaurant which was also cold, as was the food, and could see into the kitchen where some bad hygiene habits were on display. We were told the head chef was away so maybe just unlucky timing. Breakfast was good. Liked the decor and loved location

Very helpful and friendly staff, no offers of help with luggage though up narrow stairs, bathroom had hairs In it ( not mine) small amount of damp/ mildew in the bathroom. Amazing view and amazing breakfast with stunning view. Lovely to have a coffee machine in your room. No bar available. Lovely and quiet. Would come again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mariners hotel. And would definitely go back again. My partner is waiting for a knee replacement so she did find the stairs a bit challenging, but if you are fit and well it's an excellent hotel. And we will be going back after her surgery. Also, the breakfast was outstanding. The presentation was so good we actually took a photo. The quality and taste great and the quantity, well. Go to breakfast hungry :)

Tips:

the Mariners Hotel is only five mins to the main high street so a great location away from the hustle and bustle. We went to the Marine theatre on Saturday eve, such a great old place. And we love Lyme Regis because of all the nooks and crannies you can walk up and down. Lots of things to see. Lovely cafe's/pubs. Museum. Quirky shops. the harbor. Without a doubt stay at the Mariners in Lovely Lyme.

The evening meal was superb and lived up to the reputation, and the variety at breakfast was something not short of start rating freshly cooked and a hearty breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the owners son Leo was very good and informative of the history of the Mariners Hotel.

Tips:

although we stayed for two nights, we visited Portland/Weymouth which was a short journey, just down from the Hotel was the "Nags Head" a friendly pub serving real ales.

The young man on reception couldn’t have been more helpful, my kids called him mr nice guy ! Friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were looked after. Gave good advice on local area where was good to eat for the kids. Facilities in the room were really good and even had some children’s books in the twin interconnecting room. The only negative I can say is that it is an old building so noise does travel but I would definitely stay here again.

Quaint hotel developed from an old coaching inn. Rooms and beds were of a decent quality and en suite facilities were adequate. Electric shower is a bit weak but it gets the job done eventually. Breakfast was good, Free parking was welcome. Our third stay.

I had a lovely welcome with coffee in the sunny garden, with the sea view in the distance. I felt very welcome & was very happy with my bright sunny room which was great with pure white linen, very large fluffy towels and a great modern bathroom with shower. I was very pleased. My room faced the road but with the secondary glazing closed, the road wasn't a problem as it was all local traffic & mostly very light. I had dinner which was fabulous and definitely 'fine dining', the best ive had for ages. The menu was imaginative. I hope I can get a room next time im in Lyme & definitely eating there again -superb. The breakfast was excellent too, very good quality. The hotel has a car park opposite which is a great bonus as parking in Lyme is sometimes hard to come by.

Tips:

I love Lyme Regis anyway so there is plenty to see & do. The hotel, is very old with lots of history to it, is on a short hill & only 5 mins from the high st. There was a food festival on so lots to try. The cob is always a lovely walk and the gardens at top of Lyme are delightful with fab views. I went on a history walk which is held on wed & sat, for 1 1/2 hr - very good & interesting. We met at 11am o/s tourist office. Previously been to the theatre & ofcourse the cinema before the fire, but I believe is going to be reinstalled

Lovely historic hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful especially with food allergies. Breakfast delicious! Scenery lovely, spectacular view of the ocean. We would return in a heartbeat!

Tips:

Do the Lyme Regis Historical Walk done by Chris with tickets at the Museum. See the Museum after. Walk along the Cobb. Go into the warmest ocean ever. Remember The Mariners Hotel was once the home of the Philpot sisters, fossil collectors and friends of Mary Anning!

The hotel needs more staff. Breakfast was good but on the second day the service was poor, I waited ages for tea and then more time before my order for breakfast was taken. No butter or milk on the table. Toast ordered by some of our party didn’t arrive, others got it way after they had eaten the cooked breakfast. The rest of the stay was good but the service needs improvement

Tips:

Lovely area, up a steep hill so no good for people with mobility issues if you wished to walk into Lyme. Pretty shops and beach area. Lots to do in the area and other places to visit. Fossil hunting is a must!

We had very mixed feelings about Mariners Hotel. The food was extremely good and clearly the chef works hard to produce excellent dishes that are well presented. The view and garden are excellent too and we appreciated the car park. Our real problem was we were kept awake until 2:00am by a wedding party celebrating very loudly and it appears hotel management did not quieten the celebrations to respect other guests.

Tips:

Avoid rooms 9 or 10 ad they are above the bar and any late night celebration will keep you awake. Beware the hotel is some way away from centre if Lyme Regis and an uphill 10-15 minute walk back. Within Lyme Regis we found the Millside restuarant to be excellent and a late night drink in Swim on sea front was great for watching sun set and moon rise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Mariners except for one important thing. Our room was at the top of the hotel at the front. Otherwise, the staff were all charming and helpful in particular the young Manager. Our dinner there was really good and breakfasts delicious.

The hotel is comfortable, the staff are friendly and amenable and the standard of food is good, although we thought that the restaurant was comparatively expensive. Replacement of tea /coffee materials / shampoo / shower gel was not always adequate and the cups / saucers / spoons disappeared on the third day. The standard of ceanliness is OK for an hotel of this longevity.

Tips:

Lots of eateries / gift shops / take-aways / galleries in the town with pleasant walks through narrow lanes and streets. Walking down hill into town and back up to the hotel can be demanding if you plan to eat out in town on an evening. The Cobb has not lost its charm and views from the park above are always superb.

Excellent evening dinner, with good service. Free car park, opposite hotel. Pleasant garden area to rear of hotel, with sea view. Accommodation o.k., in 17th century building. Some rooms have sea views. Good option for a weekend stay. Some way to walk down to town centre/ promenade. Laundry bags stored in hotel corridors not ideal!

Tips:

Pubs/ restaurants along the main prom. were best. Pleasant walks along Marine Prom. and the Cobb. Gardens and mini woodland walk to explore. Museums and fossil shops to visit. Working water mill to see. Jurassic coast ‘bus service travels thro’ the Town. Other small coastal resorts within few miles. Lyme Regis is a hilly place, so you need plenty of ‘puff’!

This is a family run, no frills hotel. The building is several hundred years old but the rooms are all that you require We had Room 8 which faces the road. The location is right on a busy junction and although double glazed, you really need to keep windows shut at night. The road opposite is on a hill and it is easy for passers by to view into the room. The double deck bus is also just at the right height to overlook the room. Breakfast was a laid back event, and there was a good choice. Portions could be slightly bigger. The bar area, sun lounge and gardens are first class, overlooking Lyme Bay. We booked a table for evening meal, as it was advised booking is recommended. We were somewhat surprised that we were the only ones during the evening. The food is first class, although not cheap. The walk down into the town is about 10mins, but bear in mind it’s a good walk back. Over via Pound Lane, there are steps down - I counted 107 !! In honesty, it is a few pounds over priced, but we would certainly book again.

Tips:

Rooms at rear are probably best, as those at front overlook a busy road junction. Restaurant food is first class It is up quite a steep hill.

We had a Family room booked for our stay and I had called the hotel before we arrived asking for, if possible, a quite room. Upon arrival we found that the only Family room was the one we were in which was facing the main road which was fairly noisy (but to be fair only up to about 1030pm when afterwards the odd motorcycle would road past). The other issue was that as the room was very hot we had no option but to keep the windows open. I am a very light sleeper so this issue for me may not be an issue for others. The room itself was clean and functional - coffee/tea supplied and plenty of hot water in bathroom. The shower was fine also and there were lots of clean towels. The breakfast was excellent and the fixed price 3 course Sunday lunch was wonderful (excellent value for money). There is a lovely beer garden which is also a sun trap with distant views to the sea.

Tips:

It is only about 3/4 mile to the town and there are many bars and places to eat but I would highly recommend eating at the Hotel - food delicious, fresh & tasty!

Tips:

Hix Oyster Bar to eat 9 ( £90 for two ) is v. good. Beer Quarry Caves are an interesting one hour tour. Bridport is worth visit. Check the tide times before going for walks under the cliffs. You want low tide.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a great place to spend a holiday as it has a safe sandy beach, a fossil beach, harbour, museums, theatre and pleasant river walks. There are many eating places and some quirky local shops. Prospective visitors should note when choosing where to stay that many streets are quite steep.

Wonderful Hotel situated in a prime location at the top of the town (literally) it's a quick walk down to the harbour, but it might take you a bit longer to get back. Good Wi-Fi and away from the town centre but not too far. It is at the top of a steep hill but don't let that put you off. We will come again. The food is superb though. Excellent breakfast and evening meal and for the quality is well priced. Keep the staff and chefs at all cost! Highly recommended.

Reception staff very welcoming and helpful. e.g.A map and information was provided.Taxi ordered. Both rooms were excellent, very clean, all the advertised facilities and generous supplies of tea/coffee etc. We could not fault the catering. Breakfast was to order and offered a wide variety. The dinner was of a much higher standard than we might have expected. A very varied menu, different on the two nights, with some exceptional dishes and unexpected complementary appetisers. We both particularly welcomed the very tastefully decorated residents' lounge, ideal for afternoon tea and after dinner coffee.

They need to include wash cloths along with hand towels and bath towels, make minimal room repairs, improve lighting in the rooms, add hooks to the doors for a place to hang towels or jackets and include mirrors in all rooms.

Tips:

Their new chefs are excellent - great food and a great dining experience, as are the staff - always a pleasure to see the staff when we return

Very quaint, quirky but modernised sympathetically. The venue was perfect, being just out of town. (A very real 5 minute stroll down the hill.) The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was lovely using fresh local sausages which were delicious. We are already planning our next stay.

Tips:

Try the Hix Oyster And Fish Restaurant if you fancy a good meal out rather than eat in the hotel.

The reason for a lower grade in service/facilities is because we found that the bedside light bulb needed replacing or just was not working and asked for a replacement. The bulb was taken away but not replaced. Had to have main light on ( rather glaring). Even one of those was not working. The plug in the basin was rather reluctant to stay down when pressed. A bit hit and miss. Very little room to make your drinks on such a small table! We would recommend but only if such little annoying nuisances were changed.

Four of us from France were in the area for business reasons and we booked four available rooms, 1 single room, 1 room with two single beds and 2 doubles. The rooms were spotlessly clean, obviously having been redecorated recently, with a nice shower room. The single beds were wide and comfortable. A lovely bar and lounge with a view on a pretty garden and the sea. Excellent breakfast with several choices of main course. A pleasant change from the different chain hotels.

Tips:

Being January, the town was pretty quiet. A walk down into the main town and then along the sea to the harbour. We ate at The Harbour Inn. A good choice of imaginative dishes and attentive staff.

Nice relaxed welcome, easy parking, sweet room with the promised sea view (if you sat at the right angle), beautiful gardens for nice weather (which it wasn't - but still nice to look at) an and varied excellent breakfast (though to be really picky I prefer cafetière coffee) and all together a very comfortable stay. Thank you!

Tips:

The hotel is right up the top of a steep hill - lovely for views out to sea and down across Lyme Regis - there's easy (free) parking too which also avoids the need to drive down the very steep narrow roads into the bay, but it is not recommended for the mobility impaired or faint hearted. Lyme has lots to do (including the delightful short river valley walk to Uplyme) and nice places to eat (not only the famously foodie Mark Hix, but also quayside fish and chippies galore) but I personally found the bay at neighbouring Charmouth more appealing than the crumbling and messy dark fossil cliffs of Lyme, with their teams of determined fossil hunters.

The Mariners is a comfortable welcoming hotel ideally situated to enjoy Lyme Regis and surroundings on foot. My room was small but comfortable, and the restaurant is superb. I ate there twice in the evening and the menu and presentation of the food was as good as any posh restaurant I've visited in Boston. Staff are friendly and helpful. I will certainly use this hotel on future trips.

Nice hotel, good location, comfortable rooms, parking, nice breakfast, garden to use in summer, views of town, WiFi didn't work but it's not a deal breaker, would be good to have thicker curtains to block out the light when sleeping

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a lovely small town, worth visiting for a weekend especially if you like geology and collecting fossils. There are some nice pubs and restaurants / cafes and a decent number of shops. The tide varies so sometimes you can't get onto the fossil beach but there are two safer beaches in the bay for swimming and sunbathing in summer. Charmouth is nearby and is worth a look and it is easier to get into the beach but you can still get trapped by the tides! It's nice and quiet in winter if you prefer to avoid the crowds and most but not all of the shops and restaurants are still open. A few fossil shops which are great to visit as in most places shops like that are hard to come by

The Mariners is a very nice hotel. We were surprised upon our return visit that our room's heating had not been turned on: we sat on our coats for an hour and the bathroom could not be comfortably used until the next morning! The spare pillows were shockingly thin and had no pillow cases! The WiFi had no internet access and no one seemed to be bothered to find out why. It's a nice, not cheap hotel, we will not be returning though we will frequently return to Lyme Regis.

Nice breakfasts, room proportions good with a sea view. Room clean, however, carpet grubby. Had no hot water from basin for entire three night stay. Had no apology for this and no updates from staff as to whether they had managed to call out a plumber to address the issue. Only a very small discount offered for this inconvenience and had to negotiate hard in order to receive slightly more discount, which we still felt was not enough. After all who wants to have to boil a kettle every time they wash, shave etc. Running hot water is a fundamental expectation when staying in a hotel and whilst I appreciate that things happen the situation could have been handled far better and a larger discount should have been given. Even the free toilets on the sea front provide running hot water for you to wash your hands as a matter of hygiene.

29th August 2017:

On January 29th 2017 we booked to stay for two nights, Aug 22 and 23rd. On arrival a room had been reserved for us for just one night, which meant we had to move hotels for our second night. As this trip was for my wife's birthday, she was disappointed to say the least. However the hotel was spotless and the food excellent.

Tips:

Check to make sure your booking is as you want a few days before you arrive. Book a table for at least one evening meal as the food is excellent. The Nags Head pub just 50 yards or so down the street is very welcoming with friendly staff and excellent cask beer. Local shops are very good value and all sorts of goods from food to antiques and jewellery etc are available. Town Mall also worth a visit.

Communal areas are very dated and worn therefore it looks a little grubby. It needs to be decorated and updated. Our room was clean though and so was the bathroom, although very small. We were facing the road and it was extremely noisy as we had to have the windows open as it was a very warm room. I have stayed in better hotels for the same rate.

No air conditioning in bedroom, so had to have window and double glazing open to cool room. Room was a bit noisy early evening due to traffic noise, but no problem sleeping. Breakfasts were superb and loved the garden, very peaceful, bushes could do with pruning to improve the views.

Tips:

Be aware that the roads in Lyme Regis are quite steep. You must walk the Cobb and Axmouth is one of many pretty villages within easy travelling distance. Would recommend the French Lieutenants Bistro in the town. Booking is essential as they stop cooking after 8.30pm as do most restaurants in town, so booking anywhere is recommended.

The restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday, the day of our arrival, which meant we had to find somewhere to eat that first evening. Breakfasts were excellent and served promptly and pleasantly. Staff always pleasant and courteous.

Tips:

Whilst the Mariners is a short distance from the centre of Lyme Regis, be aware it's at the top of a very narrow, steep hill! A range of excellent restaurants in the town, with local fish dishes prominent on the menus, but pre-booking a table is advised. Town Mill complex well worth a visit.

A hotel full of character with a lovely garden and wonderful views over Lyme Regis and the bay. The staff are very helpful and a breakfast that shouldn't be missed. The room was clean, cosy and a good nights sleep was experienced. Another bonus was a large car park so there was no stress about parking (parking is at a premium in Lyme due to lack of space)

Tips:

There are always plenty of things to do in Lyme, quirky shops, good food and a wonderful atmosphere all year round and don't forget the fossils (the stone type not the elderly) You will always see people of all ages and a favourite with families. I have been coming to Lyme for many years and it never looses its charm.

Tips:

The mariners is situated just over a quarter of a mile from the beach, but it is a very pleasant walk down, passing by all the shops in the town Lyme Regis is a typical seaside town, unspoilt with lots of restaurants and a nice sandy beach for children and adults.

The hotel was in a good location and looked good. The rooms were a fair size and the bed large and comfy. We were a little disappointed with the cleaning as it seemed like they just threw bedding back on, maybe had a vacuum but didn't even the wipe the sink or clean the shower. This was pretty poor. I also think that the room was overpriced considering the décor was very basic. The view was stunning, the gardens a very nice touch and food at the restaurant was fab.

During our stay the restaurant was closed due to the departure of the chef but this did not detract from our stay. The location was perfect with a lovely view from the back garden. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and always on hand if a drink was required. The breakfast was excellent and the room well appointment. Although the road home was very steep it was good exercise.

Tips:

There is much to do in Lyme. A walk along the Cobb is a must but only in calm weather. Fossil hunting on the beach at low tide is very addictive. The pilgrims walk along the stream to Uplyme is very pretty and there is a pub at the end. It is a good idea to book a table for meals as this is a busy seaside town,

Unfortunate problem with the hand basin mechanism ... it wouldn't work and the refilling of the toilet cistern was VERY slow, which is a problem with two people in the room.

Comments are mixed All staff were excellent but especially the young man in the bar and waiting in restaurant. Good to have on site car parking Room was good with a lovely view overlooking Lyme Bay. Comfortable bed. Modern clean bathroom. Public rooms however were very dated and had cheap utilitarian furniture. Lounge had stunning view but felt a bit like an old people's home due to furnishings and set up. Lovely garden. Dining room furnished in same way. We had evening meal which again was mixed. Scallops were tiny and served with bullets of what looked like the left over black pudding from breakfast. The fish in batter was superb, but the frozen chips and peas accompanying it were under cooked. Breakfasts were delicious and above average for small hotel. Freshly cooked not buffet style meant that the full English breakfast was fab. Almost there but not quite. Not cheap either!! The downstairs reception rooms really need a restyle to make this hotel worth the £155 a night we paid.

Staff were friendly when there was someone about, but on many occasions there was no one to be seen. I tried to get a drink at the bar on 2 different days and gave up, but sitting in the lounge with the fantastic view was worth it - drink or not! At one point a man came into the lounge and asked me if there were any rooms free, I think someone helped him eventually. Rooms were clean and had everything you could need.

Tips:

Be aware that although is it not far to the sea front (10 minutes walk) it is a steep walk back and you need to be reasonably fit. You can break up the trip back up the hill with a beer stop at Cellar 59 and a curry at the Taste of India. Axminister Wildlife Park, just 10-15 minutes drive, off the A35 is a great way to while away a few hours if the weather is nice. The Tank Museum and Monkey World are about 75 minutes drive.

Hi, I would recommend that the mattresses and pillows in room 6 are changed. They are quite old and uncomfortable. Otherwise the staff are welcoming and the breakfast is tasty. My main aim when I stay somewhere, though is to get a good night sleep which wasn't possible. Thanks Michelle

Tips:

We enjoyed our walk to the Jurassic Coast and looking in the fossil shop. A one night stop here was perfect for our trip.

14th April 2017:

Location is good but is a fair trek up a steep hill from the harbour area. Pleasant lounge overlooking an excellent garden with lovely views. Good parking area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent. My (twin) room was quite small, fairly basic and located at the front of the hotel overlooking a main road with traffic/pedestrian noise. Sash window was jammed with a small gap at the top. For me, the room was too warm at night, even in mid-April and would have benefited from a window that could be opened.

Tips:

The town is full of steep hills and, since the town's main attractions are predominantly clustered at lower levels in the harbour and town centre areas, this should be borne in mind by anyone who might have walking difficulties. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars/pubs in the town together with range a small independent shops. The museum was unfortunately closed during my visit. The town centre and harbour is quite crowded with both people and traffic. The beach is mainly pebbles but with a sandy area near the harbour. The seafront is slightly spoilt by some relatively recent (1960s?) construction e.g. the amusement arcade. Good views. For the energetic, there is a good but uneven and quite arduous coastal walk, with lots of climbing, along the undercliff to Seaton, which takes 4-5 hours. There is a regular bus service for the return journey. Seaton is not otherwise recommended as a place to visit.

We thought it was a lovely hotel, not too big that you lost the personal effect. It was nice to have a freshly cooked breakfast, and not something from a buffet that had been kept warm. The room was nice with great sea views.

Tips:

Try all the pubs in Lyme we found them all to be enjoyable and the food was of good standard.

Lovely hotel, staff very helpful. Offered advice about things in around Lyme Regis. In a great location with parking. Free WiFi which worked very well most of the time. Quick breakfast service. Lovely gardens. Stayed in the family room which was more than adequate for four of us. Furnishings need a little updating but did not impact upon our stay. Had digital TV that worked perfectly. Training and coffee and biscuits in the room. Would definitely stay again.

Tips:

Definitely book a fossil hunt- we didn't the first time and spent hours looking in the wrong place finding nothing. When you book one they take to a place where they had a massive cliff fall 70 years ago which is still yielding fossils. They tell you what to look for and where to look it's well worth doing at the beginning of your stay- you'll be much more successful after that! If Lyme Regis has none happening try Charmouth beach. I believe they both end up in the same Place which is a point between the two beaches. Antonios Italian was a lovely family run business. The slice pizza place was divine. The chip shop by the beach had the best chips we'd had in a long while anywhere! The cornish bakery had the best pasties and sausage rolls. Loved the fudge quality corner- lots of flavours chewy not crumbly. Rolys was the crumbly fudge and we liked that too! There's a tescos with a cashpoint outside, a co-op and a lloyds bank with a free to use for any card cashpoint. Lovely brownies from the deli cafe. The durdle door and Lulworth cove are about an hour away. Parking tickets (£4 2 hours!) can be used in both durdle door and Lulworth cove car parks. West Bay where broadchurch is filmed is about 20 mins away. Never went to the two Indian restaurants but they smelt gorgeous. Lovely kids Park on anning road. Parking around Lyme Regis is limited but free after 6 in most carparks. We simply walked everywhere. Public toilets are not always open but the pub next door- the pilot - allows use of their toilets if you donate in their charity box.

A lovely small hotel. Very clean. Staff lovely and friendly. Beautiful breakfasts with a lot of choice. The location we wish was a bit nearer to the high street & beach, it was a very long steep walk back .

Tips:

Take very comfy footwear as the hills are very steep. Quite a long walk to the beach. A lovely Indian restaurant in the high street. The cheapest place to drink is in the pub next door the nags head, a lot of locals drink there. Good restaurants around the Cobb. Evenings a bit on the quiet side. Ask for a room with a sea view.

My room had a lovely comfy and large bed and pillows, en suite, flatscreen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, biscuits and fresh bottled water. It was quiet although at the front of hotel. Staff were exceptional-gentleman gave me a warm welcome and map of the area and carried my bag upstairs without being asked, lady at breakfast lovely. Let me store my luggage for collection later. Breakfast was one of the best cooked ones I have experienced for a long time and lovely view across gardens from breakfast room. Near seafront and town, at top of steep hill, but bus stop outside and free hotel car park opposite.Temperature of room just right. I will certainly be returning. Would have liked a grab rail in the shower.

Really nice place to stay!. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. I forgot the name of guy on the front desk/bar, but he was such a nice man and very helpful!!. I actually thought it was his B&B with the passion and the effort, which I found out he was just an employee. Breakfast was really nice with plenty to choose from. Views from the garden where beautiful and the local town is a very short walk away. Fantastic little B&B and usually I wouldn't fill these forms out but I thought I had to on this trip!..

Tips:

I visited out of season for work reasons however the B&B staff will tell you of all places to visit with hints and maps!. I highly recommend this establishment.

We have been to this hotel a few times and the welcome was up the usual great standard of friendliness. The room had a fabulous view of the sea.

Tips:

There is a decent Indian restaurant just a few doors down the road, if you arrive late and need to eat. Hix's Fish & Oyster Bar is superb, if pricey, but you will need to book. A walk down to the town, and out on the cob (harbour wall) is a must, but be prepared for the climb back up the hill!

Tips:

We ate at the local burger restaurant, LBK, the burgers were amazing and staff very lovely. The restaurant was cozy and had a lot of choice, even served local Dorset cider! The issues i had was the shower, very slow and a trickle of water. I also had problems with the heater in the bathroom couldn't get it to come on. Your instruction manual for the internet ws on the windowsill so when I pulled the cutrains after dark couldn't find it at all. You might want to rethink this. Otherwise it was a good stay. Greta breakfast and staff.

I paid for the view which was great but in hindsight probably didn't spend enough time in my room to appreciate it so wouldn't pay for the extra view another time.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Mariners Hotel. The chap on reception was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open for evening meals but we had a lovely breakfast. Our room was comfortable and the Mariners is in a good position for sea front and restaurants and shops. There was no need to drive once we had parked our car in their private car park.

Tips:

The main attraction is the sea front and of course 'The Cobb'. We visited in early February and after spending some time at the sea front decided to have our dinner in the town. We eat at 'The Pilot Boat' which has a very varied menu.

We had a great stay. The location is great if you like walking up hill ! It has amazing views. Great facilities for what we needed. It was a shame the restaurant didn't have an evening meal but I understand that is because there is no chef. Friendly and welcoming. I only say 4 because on the weekend I paid £20 more for a room in Norfolk (£120) that was pristine, beautifully decorated with warm colours and it had a beautiful ensuite bathroom. It too was also by the sea and had great views. The room we stayed in with you was very basic, bland and way over priced. £80-85 would have been fairer for the room we stayed in.
