We were made very welcome and had a comfortable quite room (no 1) with a view over the compact back garden. We were given a lovely full cooked breakfast to send us on our way. Thank you .

Details of two local restaurants within walking distance were in our room; we enjoyed an evening meal at the Clockhouse just down the road

Very friendly, attentive welcome. Delicious breakfast. Beautiful garden.

Tips:

Martin (the owner) recommended a way up to Golden Cap starting close to the B and B and we had a lovely walk. We managed to get an outside table at the Anchor by the beach at nearby Seatown and enjoyed a great mackerel bap for lunch. The George and The Clock are within minutes of the B and B and are best for good, traditional pub food.

Martin was a wonderful host and we cannot thank him enough for delivering our walking poles that we had forgotten, to our next location. The garden is immaculate and makes a lovely view from the bedroom. The en-suite bathroom is enormous and provides extra storage space. Breakfast was tasty, particularly the delicious sausages.

Tips:

We ate in The George during the evening and had a very good meal with excellent service. The B&B is a great place to stay if you like walking as it is close to Golden Cap and not far from the beach.

Wheelwrights is a pretty thatched house, with adequate parking for guests, just off the road running through Chideock so there is no background noise of cars. Our bedroom (bedroom 2) was very comfortable with an enormous bed and we slept like babies. Our bathroom, just next to our bedroom (but there is a handy screen to shield us from other guests) was large and spotlessly clean. Martin was a charming host and a talented cook. Our breakfast was superb and the coffee very good. I highly recommend this establishment.

We ate at the Clock public House two nights excellent food very accommodating restaurant that stayed open for us as we got back late. Beautiful food at Downhouse Farm Café huge choice all home produce although go the long way round don't try to exit onto the main road as its a concealed entrance on the brow of a hill ok to go in this way. We spent a great week st the Wheelwrights B&B in Chideock. Martin was an excellent host nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were excellent. Everywhere was spotless and bottled water fresh milk juice and snacks were provided daily free of charge. There was plenty of off road parking and Martin was a mine of information and seemed to know everyone.

Tips:

The George in the village was also excellent with good food and a welcoming atmosphere with a lovely beer garden with a pizza oven. Seatown was a short walk down country country lanes to the coast with a lovely little beach and the Anchor another great pub. The coastal path providing some excellent walks and beach were also within easy walking distance. The bus stops were outside the door and we found them to be on time.

The location was perfect for us but the only downside was the constant traffic from the busy main road. The room was light and airy with one of the most comfortable beds experienced. Martin was a perfect host.

Although out of season we found quite a few pubs closed from late lunch to 6pm,so plan walks carefully to coincide with lunchtime opening hours. This was mainly in rural areas including Charmouth, but probably not so much in Lyme Regis.

Excellent small B&B. Martin is a very hospitable host. Although the property is located on a busy main road it is set well back and there is no traffic noise. Breakfast was very good and I sat and watched many small birds feeding in the delightful terraced garden as I ate.

Other B & Bs could take lessons from Martin. Excellent service from initial welcome. Little extras like fresh milk for tea and coffee in the room. OK, it was in a small fridge on the landing, but how many people offer complimentary juices and bottled water as well? Well situated for whichever way you go along the Jurassic coast.

Tips:

For eating out, go no further than the Clock, about 50 metres down the road. Good food and beers. Don't miss Seatown, Barton Bradstock, Lyme Regis and Beer, to name a few places, plus the donkey sanctuary in Sidmouth.

We arrived late in the evening and in the dark but Martin was waiting for us with a warm and friendly smile to welcome us. He even called down to the local pub to make sure we could get some dinner after a long drive down from London after a busy day at work. We were staying for a wedding and Martin helped us with finding a local cab firm to get us there and back. Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked! Runny eggs all round!! We only wish we could have stayed longer to see more of the local sights.

Attractive new building just off the main road in Chideoak containing just 2 B&Bs very well appointed and clean. They overlook an attractive garden and open fields and suffer little noise from the continuous traffic on the A35 running through the village. We got a most friendly welcome from the owner and had interesting chats about his family and local history making the one-night stay even more attractive.

Such a friendly environment as soon as we came to Wheelrights. A very cozy place. Cleanliness was outstanding. The bed was so comfy and so big. Lovely decor throughout. Bathroom was lovely and modern with a big bathtub. Even the little bottles of shower gel and shampoo was lovely. There was a small fridge on the landing full of bottles of water, cartons of orange and little cerial bars, all free of charge. Breakfast in the morning was set out in a little dinning room for guests with all cerials, jams and juice. We had a full english breakfast which was yummy. We was sat looking through the large windows onto the garden. Through the night it was so hot, we could of done with a fan in the room as it was raining so had to shut the skylight. But would 100% stay here again.

we drove to Lyme Regis beach which was only a short drive away and spent a few hours there.

I was made to feel welcome since the moment I arrived at the door. Nothing seemed too much effort and I was especially touched, when after arriving late, exhausted and hungry (and having asked where I could get dinner at that time) Martin even kindly rang a local restaurant to make sure I had a table and they would still serve me. I couldn't have felt more at home! What a wonderful B&B! The facilities are great too, the bed was incredibly comfy (I was loathe to wake up!), breakfast was fantastic! We can't recommend Wheelwrights enough, everything about it is perfect. Martin, our host, went out of his way to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible, nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautifully decorated and had a massive luxury en suite attached. Both overlooked a fascinating garden. The bed was super comfortable and we both slept like logs. Although we didn't have the cooked breakfast what we had was perfect, the dining room and table setting lovely.

Tips:

Chideock is perfectly located for exploring the surrounding wonderful Dorset coast. From Wheelwrights there is a lovely stroll to the little bay of Seatown which is delightful. We ate our evening meal at The George, one of I believe three pubs in the village, where they were having a pizza night and where the chef enjoyed experimenting with different flavoured ice creams - both abdolutely delicious.
