Really high level accommodation just a stroll from the top sights of Lyme and the sea. Very impressive parking by the owner in the tight space available too. Lovely dogs who made me feel very much at home as a single traveller. Great views from the dining room over the sea, and a nice outside space to sit if the weather is fine.

Tips:

The Harbour Inn did a lovely meal. The suggested walk via the old mill , suggested by the owner, is worth the small detour as it’s so nice.

We stayed in the Garden Suite for two nights and could not fault it! Lavinia has thought of everything to make a stay comfortable; soft bath robes, Molton Brown toiletries, stunning bathroom, light, well designed rooms and comfortable bed. All of this was topped off with a fantastic menu choice of tasty, local food for breakfast. The guest house is a short walk down to the seafront, and although it is a steep hill back, we found that the Mariners Hotel, close to Westwood, has a welcoming beer garden so you can enjoy a well earned refreshing drink!

Lovely breakfast, great being able to choose items from cooked menu if you didn't want it all. Porridge for Stuart is a nice bonus as not always able to get it on holiday. Attention to detail, how you remember your guests wishes for tea or coffee is amazing. Room always well serviced. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for you. The all house is nicely decorated and well cared for. The map given on arrival very handy. Able to drop luggage off early is nice. All in all an excellent place to stay. You make everyone feel welcome and we will be back when we revisit the area.

Tips:

The Pilot Boat do an excellent seafood platter for 2 to share. The Indian Lal Qilla is excellent. The river walk and Town Mill area good to explore as is The Cobb. Further afield but possible on a day out if weather is bad is The Fleet Air Museum at Yeovil.

Lavinia is a very professional and welcoming host and nothing is too much trouble. I have stayed here twice now and can't recommend it enough. Firstly wonderful hospitality nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely room with a terrace and the best breakfast for this type of accommodation ever! We were comfortable from the first minute we got there. The location is great but the Westwood sits at the top of a hill so anyone with walking problems would have difficulty. However, there is parking for all the guests.

Tips:

The Westwood provides a comprehensive list of restaurants most of which are good but would recommend you avoid the Mariners Hotel!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your excellent review for other people to read and hopefully give us a try. Westwood has a hillside position, so we can see the Lyme Bay and the stunning Jurassic Coast. If getting back from town or the beach is a bit much. Then there are two solutions. We are fortunate to have a bus that goes from the bottom of Lyme Regis to the top of our road. There are also several local friendly taxis firms happy to make short trips. Like any seaside town, Lyme Regis is no different in terms of parking. We are very fortunate to have on-site parking, and I'm glad that this helped make your stay with us that little bit easier. We do have so many beautiful places to visit, and I'm happy that you enjoyed the Mariners. We would love to see you again when you are this way and thank you so much for taking the time to leave your comments. All the best, Lavinia and my super team fo helpers xx

We stayed in the suite. Absolutely lovely, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very well appointed. There is even a small kitchenette. It was all spotless. We will certainly be returning. Lyme Regis is all hills, but it is lovely. This was our 4th stay and this was by far the best accommodation. A challenging walk from the seafront but worth it. We are in our early 70's and it took us about 20 minutes.

Tips:

We stayed 2 nights, we ate in the Harbour Restaurant on the seafront and the Pilot Boat which has been completely refurbished since our last visit. In both the food was delicious. Nothing left on the plate. There is a good mix of shops and cafes. We love it.

We dined at the Millside Restaurant which was very good, but did not book in advance. While waiting for our table, we had a drink in the Ship Inn - not recommended.

River Cottage in Axminster was disappointing, fresh fish and crabmeat dishes sold out by the time we got there at 6.30, other food indifferent as was the service. Sights to see, dont miss the Swannery at Abbotsbury at feeding time.

The rooms and en-suite are better than a lot of 4 star hotels I have stayed in. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable with everything you could want. Some nice touches such as Moulton Brown toiletries. Water / milk in fridge. In room selection of very reasonably priced wine. Safe for valuables. We had a ground floor room with Veranda (The Crystal Room). Veranda had Table and two chairs - lovely sea view. Lavinia is a great host. The breakfast choice is extensive and arrived promptly. I would definitely recommend.

Great introductory informative email from Lavinia with detailed list of restaurants to visit and directions. Beautifully appointed, exceptionally clean, stylish room with sea views. Extra attention to detail to make your stay as comfortable as possible e.g. dyson fan, ground coffee bags, iced water and fresh milk in fridge. Wonderful, extensive menu for breakfast served in a conservatory with sea views. I can recommend the full english breakfast, cooked with local quality produce. Lavinia was the perfect hostess, very attentive, helpful and friendly.

Tips:

Harbour Inn in the town have an extensive menu and a nice atmosphere in the bar. Particularly good the choice of locally caught fish dishes. Well worth a visit to Charmouth nearby. Lovely room (‘Ruby’), very nice shower, plenty of coffee and tea provided and nice touches, such as milk in the fridge and wine provided - you just pay for what you open (cost about the same as the supermarkets). We had a lovely balcony with fantastic views. Quality of furnishings is exceptional, with Dyson fans and ‘smart tv’ (with BBC iPlayer, etc). Breakfast is excellent, with food cooked to order and all very high quality: I think their bacon is the best I’ve ever had in any hotel.

Tips:

We had a couple of nice meals out, our favourite was the Largigi Thai restaurant on the seafront. Lovely views, excellent food and, unlike most places in Lyme Regis, at very reasonable cost. Booking is advised as they get busy! We walked from LR to Seaton along the coastal path; be warned, this is a tough (7 ½ mile) hike with hundreds of steps to climb! Searching for fossils on Monmouth beach is great fun, we found a fossilised leaf!

Lavinia take real pride in her guest house which has some lovely furnishings and personal touches. Breakfast in the conservatory gives you a great view over the bay and the breakfast itself offers all sorts of options and was beautifully cooked. Would stay again.

We ate in the Pilot Boat in town. All freshly cooked with an interesting menu, great pizzas and excellent service at a decent price.

It was the second time we stayed and it was just as greats the first. We were made to feel very welcome and Lavinia is great.

Tips:

We found a great bar (SWIM) on the sea front to have a relaxed drink and it was full of all ages and was very nice. They cater for every aspect from afternoon cup of tea through to a very good Gin menu. Food is served until 9pm. HIX is also a great place to eat but you will need to book. More expensive and a treat really but well looked after. Make sure you visit the craft corner of the town. The river walk will get you there, and there are local artists and exhibitions.

20th February 2019:

Both me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the charasmatic Lyme Regis. There are lots of places to eat and everywhere we ate served great food with exceptional service. The Westwood guesthouse had a very personal appeal, everything was above what we expected and all the facilities were as needed and more. We both thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Definitely don't skip!! The only thing that could be improved upon was parking, which is a rare thing in Lyme Regis anyway. We both thought that the parking would have been a problem, but the host made sure that it wasn't. Ensuring that accomodations were made to make it as easy and stress free as possible. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it has been a joyful and pleasant stay!

26th November 2018:

We stayed for 3 nights at Westwood and I don't think we could have been better looked after. The room was comfortable and clean, the views lovely and the breakfasts delicious and substantial, the staff friendly and attentive. The 4 for location is simply due to the rather steep climb to get back home after a night on the town. Otherwise I have no hesitation in recommending Westwood as a welcoming base for your stay in Lyme Regis.

Tips:

Although we got quite a bit of lovely autumn sunlight perhaps late November isn't the time to expect the town to be as lively or the restaurants and cafes to be as open as they would be during the Summer. But Westwood is ideally situated for footpaths so if you spend your days walking the spectacular countryside and cliffs you'll probably be glad to retire to bed early.

Lovely guest house, stylish clean welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, the beds were so comfortable and the room had lots of little touches that showed a lot of thought had gone into the planning. Jodie was really helpful too, a little sweetie, would definitely recommend this guest house without hesitation.

Tips:

The guest house is up a hill, so going back after a day out is a bit of a hike, that said there seems to be an agreement with the local taxis that all the local trips cost £4 they were reliable too, so that helps if the hill is a bit much for you. We went to the Harbour Inn, the Cobb Pub & SWIM and all of them do good food, the Harbour Inn especially for fish. All 3 of these are on the sea front near each other, SWIM does live music too.

The whole set up is efficient, friendly and spot on.

Westwood is a pleasant guesthouse. We had a lovely big bed, well appointed bathroom, balcony with views of the sea and the distant Golden Cap. Outstanding breakfast, both in quality and in quantity. Very pleasant staff. Everything about the room and the dining room was ultra clean. Westwood is at the top of the town, well away from the town centre. This makes for very little noise at night but it is a very steep climb up to Westwood. For those people of mature years, buses stop around the corner. My only reservation about the Westwood is the provision of Dunlopillow....or similar....pillows, at least in our room. Feather pillows, please!!

Tips:

Parking in Lyme is not easy but local buses are regular. Our old codger bus passes were extremely useful for visits to Bridport, West Bay and Charmouth. There are more pubs and restaurants than you can wave a stick at. Our favourite was The Harbour Inn down by the Cobb......faultless.

Friendly feel from the moment we arrived. We especially liked the door security and the freedom we then had in the house and to sit outside, no worries about loosing the front door key etc. Room was faultless, breakfast was filling and delicious but the conservatory can be a bit over-bright and quite warm on sunny mornings. Breakfast on the outside terrace can avoid this so worth a try.

Tips:

Bags to do providing one can manage the hills, and the Mariners meal voucher system with the potential for big savings was a bit of fun. It is worth planning car use to minimise the shuffling about, no problem for the fearless Lavinia [Rally driver extraordinaire!], but with so much to do in walking distance [on fine days at least]it was nice to park and forget.

Nice to be greeted at the front door by the owner, the accommodation and staff were lovely and efficient, the owner is hands on too which is always good to see. All in all very nice place to stay.

Tips:

Westwood is a lovely place to stay but just beware of steep hills, local shops are great with food and drink a plenty. For us 3 days was enough as we didn't want the driving around over the weekend but with planning there's plenty to keep you occupied.

Westwood is a first class guest house with comfortable, well-appointed rooms and a varied and well-prepared breakfast. Situated above the town, the views of the sea and the Jurassic Coast are spectacular but there is a price to pay - it's a hard walk back up the steep hill.

Lavinia was very helpful and all staff friendly and efficient. We stayed in the garden suite which was superb with our own entrance and parking space. It was great to be able to have the French doors opens and relax in the garden with a drink. The rooms were very clean, had everything you would need, and a superb shower room. The breakfast choice was excellent, with lovely views of the sea, and the food delicious. We would definitely book again.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a superb quaint seaside town, with so much more to see than fossils and the Cobb. Lots of art galleries, and individual shops, plus pubs and local restaurants everywhere. Plus a local Theatre. We also visited Bicton Gardens which was beautiful, about 20 miles from Lyme Regis, but definitely worth a visit. There are very steep hills, and the Guest House is up one of them, so not a good place to visit if your walking is not so brilliant. However, Lyme Regis will remain as one of my favourite Seaside towns.

Ideal location. Available parking is a bonus as this is limited in Lyme Regis but you have to be good at manoeuvring to get out again! Comfortable room with a view. Breakfast excellent. Lavinia gave clear instructions on how to find them as could have missed the turning otherwise.

The little "Artists' area" is worth looking at. Really enjoyed walking along The Cobb.

Our room was delightful, beautiful decor, wonderful toiletries. Lavinia was friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Staff polite and friendly. Location suited us, as we like to walk, but was a little way from the town for anyone who doesn't like to walk. Nice to be able to park car off the road. This was achieved for all room occupiers, with Lavinia shunting vehicles when necessary.

Tips:

Millside restaurant excellent. Italia Restaurant also very good. Mariner's - food and service excellent, although very quiet. Quaint town with lots going on. Theatre was popular and well worth a visit.

Our room, the Garnet Suite, was excellent. It was very clean and had everything we required, and what a bonus to have fresh milk, which was kept in the fridge which was also provided. The en-suite was also very clean and everything provided. The breakfast was very good with a very comprehensive menu. The parking area is small and you have to double park and leave your car keys in reception. Lavinia, the excellent host, has a very good system when moving the cars, so it works very well. A brilliant two nights stay. A email before we arrived gave us restaurants close by and things to do, as well as good directions to the B & B.

Tips:

The Mariners Hotel, in Silver Street, serve an excellent meal and Lavinia will give you a voucher in a sealed envelope, with a discount from 10% to 100%. The Bell Cliff Restaurant, Broad Street, do good food as well. The 'Cobb' beach is sandy, and is very good if you like a beach holiday. It does get rather busy on good days. Facilities are very good also. It is quite a steep climb if you use the top car parks. Sidmouth is near, and is worth a visit.

We had a fantastic stay. Westwood is decorated to a very high standard, the beds are the comfiest I've ever had. Dyson fan in the room was brilliant when it was so hot. I know that being at the top of the hill is a problem for some people but we'll worth it for the views. Exceptional breakfast every morning. Staff are brilliant. There if you need them but leave you alone if you don't. Would recommend to anyone. Fabulous place

Breakfasts choices are excellent and all cooked fresh to order. Stayed in the Ruby Room, this has french doors opening out onto a decked balcony which is great for having alfresco breakfast and relaxing with a drink at night.

Breakfast menu is amazing and will certainly set you up for the day, spoilt for choice. Our second visit, but definately not the last!

Tips:

A steep walk down to the beach and back but sooooo worth it for the magnificent view. If, like me, you occasionally find the walk back up too much, a bus from the square will take you up and drop you a mere 50 yards or so from Westwood. We certainly wouldn't let the walk put us off.

I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during my first visit to Lyme Regis. The guesthouse is perfectly located; just a short walk down the hill finds you within reach of cafes, shopping, the beach, and the Cobb. Each night when I returned, there was milk in my refrigerator for tea, and a new supply of tea bags and sundry--and expert care was taken in tidying up my room as well. The view from the windows out into the bay and to the cliffs is phenomenal. Lavinia is incredibly attentive and gracious--you couldn't ask for a better host.

Tips:

For coffee: AromaCafe makes a lovely mocha, and you can choose from dark, milk, and white chocolate. Also try Amid Giants and Idols: I had the most divine blueberry and pecan cake served warm with a side of Greek yogurt. If you eat on the beach, BEWARE of the seagulls!! They are relentless, and on my first day one made off with a hunk of my fish; on another day, I watched as a little boy had his finger nicked when one made to try and steal his sandwich. Just choose your spot wisely and be wary--I chose to eat in the park that looks down on the bay and it was lovely.

We loved Westwood guest house, such a warm welcome, clean spacious bedrooms, very well appointed and super comfy beds too. The breakfasts were excellent, loads of choice and the staff couldn’t haven more helpful and attentive. I would highly recommend a stay here and we would come back without hesitation.

Tips:

There are plenty of places to eat in town, but I would recommend booking ahead on a Saturday and not eating too late on a Sunday, especially if it’s out of season.

Great B&B! Immaculate decoration, very helpful owner, very pleasant staff, nice touches (Easter eggs), generous and tasty breakfast. This is the way all B&Bs should be run!

Tips:

We ate at Swim & Ocean View on Marine Parade. Both were good, with a particularly lively atmosphere at Swim which we enjoyed. Saw a movie at the quaint Marine Theatre. Highlight was a day trip to Monkeyworld, which is fantastic.

5th February 2018:

You have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is between 8.30 and 9.30 and there is a guest's lounge although we didn't use it. Our room was quite small for a king-size bed and a comfortable armchair would have suited us better than the chaise-longue. All in all, good value for money!

Tips:

The walk down the hill and along the stream to the Old Town Mill is wonderful - the walk back up is hard-going if you are out of practice like me! Thoroughly recommend Italia - Italian restaurant near the Old Town Mill, open at 5.30 pm for evenings and weekday lunches. Public Transport - if like us you were coming by train and bus to help ease traffic congestion - you do need to check that Sunday busses are running. In winter they do not and people seem unclear as to whether they will return in the summer. Lyme taxis are not interested in Sunday trade but Axminster Taxis were very helpful and it cost us £19 to the station.

Fantastic staff and hospitality. Lovely accommodations and appointments. Exquisite views from balcony; Lyme Regis, cliffs and English Channel. The Guest House backs up to protected, lush woods. Gorgeous breakfast room. Wonderful, tasty food, stunning appointments and ambiance with beautiful views. We loved our stay at Westwood Guest House!

Tips:

Lyme Regis is hilly (understatement). Westwood has its wonderful views because it is at the top of town. If you don't have a car, and can't get a cab, you climb a pretty steep (but graduated) hill. We are seniors and we managed the climb just fine...and, just so you know, we are not in great physical shape (my husband was wearing a orthpedic boot)! The Westwood Guest House was well worth the climb. We highly recommend Mariners Restaurant just around the corner from Westwood Guest House. We give it 5 stars. We also recommend French Lieutenant's Bistro which is downtown on the water. Lyme Regis Museum is a can't miss!

Thank you so much for taking time out to leave a review for others to read and also letting us know how you felt staying with us. 5 out of 5 - wow :) x thank you - We are so glad you had a great time and we really hope we get to see you again. If I can I will always do my best to help with transport. We do have local taxis that are happy to do a short run back from town to us. You are totally right that there are no views without hills! We are very lucky to have the position we do - overlooking everything and also having our own parking which is a real boom in Lyme Regis as parking is a precious commodity! My ladies that help me keep Westwood spick and span, love to read reviews and see their hard work appreciated - So Please Do come again! Lavinia & my ladies that help xx

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this well maintained guesthouse. The facilities were great and it refreshing to meet a host who is passionate about the people staying. The food was excellent and the rooms were clean and well prepared. Parking is a slight issue but otherwise we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Thankyou.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a gem of a town small enough to enjoy the beach and have a leisurely stroll through town. The restaurants are plenty and a good choice of different cuisines are available to suit everyone’s tastes. If you fancy travelling for an enjoyable evening out goto Axminster and The River Cottage deli and canteen, food is stunning , service great and very reasonably priced too. The kids can have fun hunting for fossils on Mommouth beach but if your prepared to travel would Also, recommend Branscombe and Lulworth Cove as places to visit. If you enjoy walking there are plent6 of trails along the coastline to keep many a wAlker happy with stunning views of our coastline.

Nice and friendly. The car park can be a bit tight but Lavindia manages it very well, i.e. no issues. Our room was lovely, clean, well equipped with attention to details. Nice coffee, fridge. Great breakfast.

Tips:

Recommend the Volunteer Inn - up the hill on Broad Street. Nice old pub with friendly staff. Food was good: plaice and game pie. Avoid the Rock Point. Nice location but very cold atmosphere inside. Shame as it could be a great place. Also recommend crab baguette on the sea front.

Breakfasts were superb and a huge choice. Loved the fluffy white dressing gowns, unusual for a "B&B"! Our room was large, nice views and had the benefit of a fridge and safe. The young lady who met us on arrival, served breakfast, moved the cars etc etc could not have been more helpful, pleasant or obliging. She was a real benefit to Westwood.

Tips:

We had a very good meal at the ITALIA restaurant on the junction of Coombe and Monmouth Streets. Beware that the coastal path between Lyme Regis and Charmouth is currently closed and has been diverted.

The room was lovely and clean and the bed extremely comfortable. We were made very welcome and the little extras in the room especially the fresh milk every day and the wine which could be purchased at a reasonable price. Breakfast was brilliant and the fresh fruit salad every day was a treat. We had a very quiet room with a seating area outside. A special thankyou to the young lady (sorry didn't get her name) who served our breakfast and waved us off when we left. We had a very relaxing 3 nights in this lovely guest house, thank you.

Tips:

The best places to eat were actually along the seafront. The very local restaurants were a little pricey, its worth the walk down to the sea. There are a couple of walks one along by the river and one through the gardens. However a steep climb back up to the hotel. There is also a fairly good bus service to Bridport and West Bay, which makes a nice change from driving.

Very enjoyable stay at this lovely guest house. The views from this hilltop situation over the bay to Golden Cap are amazing. As long as you don't mind the walk up the hill from the town, the car can be parked in the drive all day. The bedroom had good facilities and we appreciated the extras such as the luxury toiletries. The choice for breakfast, taken in the modern conservatory, was extensive and it was all perfectly presented and cooked. Lavinia goes out of her way to be helpful.

Enjoyable stay at the Westwood Guest House, our second time there and we are already discussing when we will be making a return visit. The rooms are furnished and appointed to a high standard, with a comprehensive range of drinks, hot and cold, they are kept cleaned and serviced daily. We stayed in the Topaz Room, from which we had a good view over the town, along the coast and out to sea. Westwood is the best B&B I've ever stayed in. Better than any five star hotel. Lavinia's B&B is beautiful; clean and finished to an excellent quality. Great touches, with a Dyson cooler in the room, Molton Brown toiletries, Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. Beds were uber comfy, best night sleep I've had in ages. Very homely with 2 friendly dogs, Sam and Delila! Breakfast was delicious. Lavinia is very special, friendly, fun - and she was so kind as to offer to drive us into town one day (it's only a short walk but my partner had a bad knee! I would 100% recommend this B&B, we only stayed one night and really want to go back. Thanks Lavinia, you are a credit to the industry!

Views from our bedroom & breakfast room of the sea/Lyme were fabulous.Choice of breakfast was superb, very tasty & cooked to perfection.

Tips:

Various restaurants to suit all tastes especially giving a good choice of the locally caught fish. Many independent shops supplying locally sought produce & crafts for gifts & souveniers. My wife and myself have stayed in many a guest house over the years and the Westwood is up there with the best, spotlessly clean and beautifully styled. Lavinia our host was very friendly and available for a chat or advice if needed Breakfast was uncomplicated with an excellent menu and food to match.

Mum and I enjoyed our visit to Westwood very much. Consideration taken by Lavinia and her staff for us at all times. Parking made available enabling my Mum easy access to our room which had excellent views and a balcony for our breakfast. Our accommodation was kept to a very high standard throughout our stay and our breakfast was absolutely delicious. Our thanks to Lavinia, the two little ones and her girls for making our visit to Lyme Regis extra special. Already booked for July next year. Cannot speak highly enough of Westwood - beautiful property, felt like home.

Tips:

Dawlish - well worth a visit especially after the bad storms hit their railway. Train journey to Starcross picturesque. Honiton Garden Centre - lots for us to see and food delicious. Would recommend their soup of the day, very filling.

18th July 2017:

I highly recommend Westwood. The owner, Lavinia is a pleasant, very helpful, and engaging hostess, who even helped us out with our wash! The room we stayed in was quite fine, even while one of the smaller and least expensive; and, beyond the room itself, the guest house has small and usually unused public spaces both inside and out in which one can sit, converse or have or share a drink. The breakfasts were great and nicely presented within a fine and sunny breakfast room with another single table, when available, also present outside on a front patio. We found the location very good, a short (10 minute) walk (uphill) from the sea and main area of LR, and thus away from the more bustling center; it allowed several very lovely walks down into garden Lavinia encouraged us to try, one through a set of lovely public gardens, another along a stream. The concern some reviewers have raised about the parking situation of a very compressed area Lavinia manages expertly, seems to me a curious non-issue. It was necessary and preferable that she could so well re-arrange car spots, and our rental car was placed after our 3 night stay in the most convenient spot for our easy and early departure. Nothing but a very positive experience in a lovely and multi-faceted town!

This is a really excellent B&B within easy reach of the town. The room was lovely, beautifully furnished to a high standard with a very comfortable bed and en suite. We had a view over the town to the sea and right across Lyme Bay. The owner, Lavinia, was very welcoming and friendly, and with her staff provided excellent breakfasts. A great and very comfortable place to stay and we will certainly return.

Tips:

Since we last visited Lyme Regis many years ago, the Town water mill has been restored and makes a fascinating way to spend an hour or so. The brilliant flour miller gives you the full history of the mill and a very a detailed tour with demonstrations.

A beautiful guest house, offering all the facilities of a good hotel in a much more intimate setting. Excellent room, with a view that must be one of the best in Lyme Regis. Breakfast choices second to none and certainly set you up for the day.

Tips:

Leave your car at Westwood House and explore the surrounding area by foot or local bus service. Axminster and Charmouth are both easily reached by a bus service that runs every half an hour. Lyme Regis itself has some fascinating little gems, hidden off the main street. My favourite was Alice's bear hospital/workshop, where I spent time chatting to like minded crafters while my OH was in the fossil shop nearby. Also visit the town mill where you'll find lovely people sharing their local crafts.

Beautiful location at top of hill overlooking Lyme Regis. Very hot during our stay but our room was at the rear overlooking garden so was very cool. Facilities were excellent with lots of little extras. The cooked breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice as cooked to order.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a pretty resort but very hilly. Nice sandy beach which looked very safe for children. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance.

Westwood certainly deserves its description as a Luxury B&B. The facilities are of a definitely superior standard. The room we had was spacious and overlooked the garden and the sea could be seen from the window. The welcome from our hostess and her colleagues was warm and the breakfast really good.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is a delightful historic town in a beautiful area and well worth a visit. We found the five minute walk to the sea from the B&B no problem but the region is hilly so the return trip might tire some. We ate splendidly at both the Harbour Inn and the Hix oyster & Fish House. You must reserve for the latter to be sure of a table.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Welcoming & helpful hostess & staff. We had the Ruby room - lovely to have breakfast on verandah outside our room and to be able to sit out there of an evening with views as far as Portland Bill. Excellent fridge with ice-tray thoughtfully set within cupboard (so no noise). Good TV, shower & cosmetics. Very clean. Small gripe - lack of bedside reading light.

Tips:

The walk down to town centre by the stream is delightful. Plenty of benches in the gardens overlooking Cobb.

Lavinia is a really lovely warm host, and makes you feel at home as soon as you step into her beautiful guest house. All the personal touches in our gorgeous room (The Amber room) where lovely. The room opens on to the deck, where we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast outside in the sun with great views. This is a real gem of a place and we highly recommend to everyone definitely look no further book immediately. Parking is a real added bonus. See you again very soon.

Tips:

Lyme Regis is lovely itself, although it was a first for my hubby to have his ice cream taken out of his hands by a seagull :) We had a great meal in the Ocean View, the homemade fishcakes were the best I have ever had. Great service and the atmosphere was fab. Bus service very easy to use to go to Seaton. The walk to Beer from Seaton is highly recommended, the views are absolutely amazing. Portland Bill is a must the chesil beach is stunning, yes it is all pebbles but do not let this stop you from seeing another spectular sight.

18th May 2017:

Wonderful location to spend a bit of time in Lyme Regis. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the garden suite. Given that we were there for 8 days, it would have been nice to have an extra bit of cleaning done as far as dusting and floors but that was a very minor concern. The breakfasts were fabulous and Lavinia and her staff most friendly, helpful and welcoming. The view from the breakfast room is breathtaking.

Tips:

This is a very restful place to stay but if you are walking, prepare for hills. Everything is downhill one way and uphill the other. We thoroughly enjoyed both the location and the walking. The Pilot Boat Inn, The Cobb Arms and the Rock Point Inn were all great places for a meal. Fish and chips on Marine Parade is a must. Lyme Regis Fish Bar has our vote. Rent a beach hut for a day and just chill out! The Dinosaur Fossil Museum is well worth the price of admission.

Absolutely cannot fault this beautiful B & B. We arrived early and was given a warm welcome and shown to our room. All rooms are modern and stylish and exceptionally clean. We probably had the smallest of the rooms but it had everything we needed and a view of the bay. The bed was extremely comfortable, we slept well on each of our three nights which is unusual for me. Shower lovely and powerful and hot. Breakfast was superb. A choice of fresh fruit salad, cereal followed by a great choice of cooked breakfast made to order. The attention to detail and little touches make all the difference. There are probably cheaper places to stay but if you want quality and a warm welcome this is a great choice. Will definitely return.

Tips:

We had a lovely meal at the Harbour Inn along the sea front. Lyme has some lovely gift shops. We also drove to West Bay (home of Broadchurch) about 20 minutes away which was beautiful.

Owner Response:

Thank you so much for your comments, its really nice to know what makes the stay special to our guests. We are so glad you felt at home and had 3 nights good sleep. We use a eco-friendly method of producing hot water and heating and glad you enjoyed the shower. Breakfast is something we pride ourselves on very much and its lovely to hear it went down well with you and you enjoyed it. We source everything we can locally that can cost extra but we believe its better to go the extra mile and so pleased you noticed the difference. We would love to see you again, Lavinia.

Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Nicely furnished and clean. Great breakfasts and nice views of the woods / valley down to the sea. Tricky parking though, careful coordination required if you need to use your car during your stay.

Tips:

Plenty of restaurants in town. Be prepared for hill walking though. Vegetarians will love Tierra, good Thai restaurant on the sea front too (nice portions). Fudge, beer and fossils - what more could you want in shopping? NB: Alice's teddy bear and doll hospital has moved the other side of the road from where it used to be.

Overall very good. Easy access to outside for breakfast is a bonus. Not much can be done about parking and coming out in to the road though it is very frustrating for all concerned including Lavinia.Nice ensuite facilities but like many such nowhere in the shower to put down things like sponges, shower gel and towel rail the other side of bathroom.

Tips:

Nice woodland walk starts less than one minute away ! Then follow river back into town. Could even walk to golf club where good food including Sunday carvery in a relaxed atmosphere. Don't take any notice of big notice at the start of the Cobb walk - Mariners pub near Woodmead no longer does a Sunday carvery !
